What Are the UK’s New Recycling Regulations?
From March 2025, businesses in England with 10 or more full-time equivalent employees will be required to separate their waste for recycling. This includes:

Dry recyclables: paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, and glass

Food waste

Residual waste (non-recyclables)
By March 2027, even micro-businesses (those with fewer than 10 full-time employees) will need to comply.
These rules also apply to public-facing waste — so if you have customers, clients, or visitors on-site, their waste must be correctly sorted too.
Food waste macerators and enzyme digesters that discharge into the sewer will also be banned under the new rules.
Why Is This Happening?

If your unit doesn’t yet have facilities to sort food waste or separate recyclables, you may need to:
